Are you obsessed with Grace and Frankie as much as I am?
It’s soooo much fun!
I put it off for a while I have to admit. My friend Kate told me she loved it, my parents love it, I read an article in the New York Times saying that mothers and daughters are watching it together, that it’s become popular on college campus’s. Still, I thought it was going to be corny and a lot of forced laughter. I was wrong.
I was hooked as soon as I heard the theme song by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals- “Stuck in the Middle”
Come for the Laughs, Stay for the Emotional Ride
The premise of the show is that Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda play a set of (totally opposite) wives whose husbands leave them later in life for each other.
The husbands, Robert and Sol, continue to be a big part of the show, so it’s interesting to watch how they work through all the messiness of divorce.
Frankie is the free spirited hippie. Her marriage to Sol seemed real because they were so close and shared so many of the same interests. She’s the empathetic one who you’d want to have as your best friend, your mom or even be her.
Grace is the uptight self involved cosmetics mogul whose marriage to Robert seemed stuffy and country clubbish. Grace is tough, but she’s learning what it means to be a real friend.
They retreat to their stylish co-owned Malibu beach house that you’ll want to see here.
Yam’s- who knew?
I don’t want to share too much, but I will say that the dialogue is snappy and there are enough sh###’s and f###’s peppered in to have you laughing out loud.
The topics that come up are hilarious and heartfelt, and I so appreciate that these ladies are showing us that they’ve got it going on in their 70’s.
I love it and can’t wait for Season 4
